When it comes to summer eateries, Chicago sure knows how to wine and dine a girl. In fact, there’s only one way to celebrate the rising temperature: al fresco style. Whether you’re into a breezy brunch or a hazy happy hour under tea lights and trees, outdoor dining is Chicago’s signature summertime ritual.
As such, I wanted to share a few of my favorite al fresco spots around the city! From quirky gardens and lake view patios, to lively terraces and rustic courtyards, these Instagram-worthy eateries will indulge your inner foodie.
Pearl Tavern
Pearl Tavern is a personal favorite of mine! Take a trip back in time to the exuberant 1950s golden era of Chicago and treat yourself to fresh oysters and old-school libations. Not only is the interior decor awe-inspiring, but the lake-front patio is to die for.
Cindy’s Rooftop
Located on the top of The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, Cindy’s is truly the jewel in this Chicago landmark’s crown. The restaurant and open-air terrace offer breathtaking views of Millenium Park, the Art Institute of Chicago, Lake Michigan, and beyond. This Chicago favorite is a must-try!
RM Champagne Salon
Tucked away in a cobblestone alley, RM Champagne Salon is a Parisian-style oasis. With tea lights loosely strung from exposed brick walls, the lively champagne salon’s patio is a summertime favorite. With champagne as the focus and the delicious menu following suit, you can never go wrong.
Celeste
On the fourth-floor rooftop overlooking the bustling River North streets, Celeste is truly a breath of fresh air. Victorian-style seating and ivy-covered walls, truly set the tone for this whimsical garden restaurant.
Headquarters Beercade
This vintage arcade bar located in River North certainly stands out from the other eateries on this list. “Don’t grow up, it’s a trap,” has become this quirky bar’s motto attracting a lively crowd from across the city. Play retro arcade games or enjoy Bloody Mary’s on the patio. The little kid in you will love this animated spot!
