DIY: VINTAGE FUR

CLASSIC LEATHER MEETS DIY VINTAGE FUR: If you’re anything like me, spring cleaning your closet may be one of the most bittersweet days of the year. You’re dying to make room for all of the drool-worthy items on your summer wish list, but parting with that rhinestone studded leather jacket seems nearly impossible. So, rather than say goodbye to an old friend, I decided to do a little wardrobe rehab.
Leather is taking over the summer fashion scene. As seen on the runways of NYFW, summer jackets are all about classic leathers combined with other textiles and materials. Which is why this easy DIY jacket is the edgy, high-fashion piece your wardrobe has been desperately needing.
To create this chic look, I cut up an old vintage fur and sewed on the those pieces to the front and back of my Phillip Lim Leather Stud Moto Jacket. Because the fur is only sewed onto the body, this unique combo takes the staple leather jacket and transforms it into a trendy layered look giving the whole outfit more depth and texture.
Since the DIY jacket is the focus of this outfit, I threw it on over the IRO ‘Clay’ Cutout Tee (a contemporary twist on the basic white tee) paired with my favorite distressed Flying Monkey jeans. For a pop of color, I wore these maroon suede platforms because you can never go wrong with a pair of sandals from Aquazurra! And finally, of course, my classic Chanel Flap Bag.
Another bonus – with fur vests on the rise as an Autumn/Winter trend, this DIY piece will easily transition from season to season!
