The 88th Academy Awards are less than a week away and I’m so excited to be hosting the 2nd annual “Haute Oscars” viewing party! This means I have an excuse to wear a red-carpet outfit. The theme for this years Haute Oscars is ‘70s glamour, inspired by the iconic American designer Roy Halston Frowick. Expect to see full glamour, seduction, and allure! Roy Halston was known for throwing the most lavish parties with the most elegant guests, and I am channelling my inner Elizabeth Taylor all night long.
My first “Haute Oscars” look is very elegant and polished, but with just a few hints of red carpet glam. If you don’t want to do black and white, I say go bold in very elegant color such as this one. The sweetheart neckline tamely exposes just enough to make this gown have you feeling sexy. Have fun with the jewelry, which compliments the shoes and handbag. I love these Stephen Webster 18k rose gold feather drop earrings— they sparkle in all the right ways! Natural makeup and subtle accessories complete the look since your dress and earrings are the star of your outfit.
Since the theme is Halston-inspired, I had to pick out gowns from the Halston collection, of course. This purple Halston Heritage Drape Back Gown completely embodies ‘70s fashion. ‘70s fashion is all about luxury, which means plenty of jewelry and sparkle with your accessories. Either gold or silver (or both!) match perfectly with purple. Top it off with bold red nails to match the red carpet!
My third “Haute Oscars” look is another piece from the Halston collection. This silky beige gown is Grecian inspired, and has been a classic look on the red carpet for years. These Oscar de la Renta Floral Embroidery Sandals match the gown’s color and Grecian theme. I added a classic black clutch that stands out with ruby drop earrings. My favorite makeup for the red carpets is a natural look—this rouge lipstick and pulled back hair does the trick—because we’ll let the dress do the talking.
