In honor of my girlfriend, Irina Ovrutsky’s birthday yesterday, I wanted to share the fabulous get-together I hosted a few weeks ago. Irina is a close girlfriend of mine who is the founder of the trendiest children’s clothing line on the market, Lola + The Boys. [ If you haven’t seen any of the pieces from her line, you HAVE to check it out. ] So last month, I organized a Mommy + Me weekend brunch at LUX Bar – one of my absolutely favorite spots in the Gold Coast. And obviously I had to incorporate my favorite kids collection as well!
Eight of Chicago’s most fashionable moms and their equally stylish daughters, joined myself and my daughter Marlee, for a cozy afternoon of shopping, mimosas and delicious food! If that combo isn’t your ideal Saturday morning, then I don’t know what is. Over yummy bites from LUX Bar’s recently updated brunch menu, we chatted the entire morning away. BTW – I HIGHLY recommend the organic bagel with fresh cured salmon and the avocado toast. Oh and the classic eggs Benedict. Basically everything was amazing.
Upstairs in the private dining room, the LUX Bar team went above and beyond to make the space perfect. The dining room is already cozy with huge windows and a fire place, but the team’s decor completed it. Pink roses and daisies arrangements lined the table while pretty tea candles were scattered around them.
Once our plates were cleared, Irina gave a wonderful presentation on her clothing line. She expressed how she feels that children’s clothes “should be as unique and fun as they are.” My dear friend prides herself on designing looks that help mold kid’s individuality. And I couldn’t be more proud of her. Fashion is a form of self expression. As mom’s, we should encourage our girls to appreciate their unique qualities every single day.
My guests were in awe of her adorable collection. While we sipped on some bubbly, our little ones got to play dress up in boho-chic and rocker-cool looks. The afternoon was filled with great conversation, delicious food, tasty drinks, happy little ones, and some #bossbabe mamas.
Happy birthday Irina! I am so proud of you for following your dream – you are such an inspiration!
