MBFW Spring/Summer'15. Day 1

The first day of Mercedes-Benz fashion week is always the hardest  for me – I fly to New York early in the morning, get a cab, check-in to the hotel, drop my suitcases off, dress up and run to the shows at the Lincoln center. But for some reason the first day is always the best one. I think it is because of all the excitement and emotions and energy (unlike day 4 or 5 when you refuse to wear heels  and wish you could go to the shows in your pajamas).

Supima

My Fashion Week 2014 started with Supima fashion show. Supima is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the use of Pima cotton. They invited 6 young talented designers to compete and present their collections. The winner, Anastasia Iafrate, with her “White Nights in St. Petersburg” collection got the $10,000 prize.

Desigual

I always look forward to the Desigual show because every year they come up with a very bright, funky and brave collection. The designs are like a splash of colors on canvas – optimistic and fun. I loved the flower head pieces and Adriana Lima who opened and closed the show looked amazing in Desigual clothes!Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2015Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2015

Jay Godfrey

Sometimes I like the presentations more than the runway shows because you can actually take your time, look at the pieces closely, see the material and the quality better. This year Jay Godfrey decided to do a presentation at the Hudson Hotel. His Spring/Summer’15 collection is a mix of Western, rock-chic and boho-inspired pieces. Models were standing in hay and the presentation was accompanied by live music. Jay’s style is easy to recognize – capes, long skirts and fitted suites.

Mathieu Mirano

Miriano is a young (only 23 years old!) New York-based designer who creates beautiful pieces for strong #GIRLBOSS women. He pays attention to the detail; to the cuts; to the treatments; and to the high level of craftsmanship. I liked Mathew Mirano’s new collection and the way he has managed to reintroduce classic details such as pleats and peplums in an entirely different, modern way.
