Nando Milano Trattoria

Everyone knows that to get good Italian food you should go to a traditional family-owned restaurant. Nando Milano Trattoria in Wicker Park belongs to the Vullo family who brought generations of Italian recipes and family traditions from Milan, Verona, and Bologna to Chicago. On Thursday, I was invited to Nando for lunch and got to meet Alessio Vullo, the Executive Chef who told me all about the restaurant.

Although I try to stay away from carbs, I just love Italian food. You can’t say no to delicious pasta that is handcrafted daily! They even have gluten free and whole wheat pasta available. Everything on the menu looked so delicious, it was hard to know where to begin. I started with tenderized grilled baby octopus and calamari over Sicilian couscous. For my main course, I ordered linguine portofino – house made linguine with a mix seafood, shellfish and cherry tomatoes in a pinot blanc sauce. Both dishes were simply amazing. My waiter offered the perfect light and crisp wine to compliment the seafood. The ambience was lovely as well. The space is very cozy, making it perfect for dinner with your special someone. I will definitely be coming back for more pasta!
