Peppermint Hot Cocoa In A Jar


It’s hot cocoa season, people! Seriously – can you think of anything better than a cup of hot chocolate in your Christmas mug after a chilly day? Nope, because there IS nothing better. Which is why it makes for the perfect DIY gift.
This hot cocoa in a jar is SO easy to make and a fun activity for the whole family on a snow day! Bring it to your White Elephant Party, give it to your office Secret Santa, or add it as a stocking stuffer. For kids, tie around an extra baggy of marshmallows; for adults, give it with a mini bottle of peppermint schnapps! Either way, this adorable DIY is perfect for everyone.

Hot Coco In A Jar Recipe

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup Milk Chocolate Flavor Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa Mix
  • 6 TBSP powdered milk
  • 2 tablespoons chopped candy canes (roughly 2 canes)
  • 1 oz. NESTLE Toll House Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 Mason Jar (16 oz.)
  • Festive ribbon/string (to tie around jar)
  • 1 Gift Tag

Directions:

  1. Layer the cocoa mix, powdered milk chopped candy canes, chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows into the jar
  2. On the gift tag, write the following directions:
    1. When ready to use, remove the marshmallows from the top of the jar and mix the remaining ingredients together
    2. Add ½ cup of the mix to 1 cup of boiling water in a mug and stir until completely combined
    3. Sprinkle with marshmallows
  3. Add the lip, then attach directions to the festive ribbon/string and tie around the jar
  4. Enjoy!
