Happy Friday, babes! This week felt like it would never end, but somehow we made it. AND we were rewarded with an absolutely prefect day: sunny and 75. I swear, everyone’s smile is a little bigger. Probably because they know exactly what they’re doing after work! So don’t worry, I’ll make this short and sweet.
As I’m transitioning my wardrobe for spring, I’ve been pulling out some old pieces from last year. So when I found this Tory Burch white maxi vest, I remembered how in love with it I am! Naturally, I needed an excuses to wear it ASAP and lunch with my girlfriends was the perfect occasion! First of all, the slits up the sides give the piece so much movement. The way it blows in the wind makes such an entrance. But what I love most about this design is how versatile it is. Whether you pair it with jean shorts, a mini dress, or leather pants – it really adds a unique trait to your outfit.
Writer’s Note: Unfortunately it’s sold out, but I found THIS ONE at Nordstrom that is SO similar you can hardly tell the difference 😉
I decided to wear the vest with a victorian style lace ruffle top. I’ve worn this before with my Phillip Lim overalls, and I will most definitely wear it again! It’s just such a great staple piece. Also – I just bought these Rag + Bone jeans and I LOVE them. I would wear them everyday if I could. I may be biased, but they are so comfortable and take about 10 pounds off your legs.
You can shop the rest of my look below, babes. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!! XO, Janet
I just got back after an impromptu – and undoubtedly epic – girls weekend in Las Vegas, baby! To say it was amazing, is an understatement. But you know that thing they say about Vegas being a 72-hour city? It’s true. One weekend was definitely enough for me!
Before the fun had even started, I naturally did a little shopping damage. You can’t go to Vegas without a pair of new heels and mini dress! But I think I may have discovered a new shopping obsession: carry-on bags.
First of all, there are SO many different styles, colors, and designs to choose from. Plus a chic carry on suitcase instantly makes you look 10 times more fabulous. Have you ever seen a celebrity with an ugly carry-on? I didn’t think so. And since packing is such a drag, a cute carry-on makes the process just a little bit more fun!
Editor’s note: everyone needs to watch my packing tutorial, I swear it’ll change your life! Watch it HERE!
To spice up your airport experience, check out some of my absolute favorite carry-on bags. Which one is your favorite?!
Xo, Janet
Happy Monday, ladies! Anyone else on their 4th cup of coffee? Because it has really just been one of those days for me. However, this Vintage Moschino Fanny Pack made it just a littleeee bit better. I mean, cmon. How chic is it?! I found this vintage waist bag on The Real Real and seriously have been dying to use it.
Contrary to popular belief, fanny packs have totally made a comeback in recent years. After the 90’s, the waist bag disappeared for a little while. But after EDM festival trends became more and more popular, and the fanny pack made it’s way back into pop culture. And let’s be real – if you’re going to rock one, it might as well be Moschino!
Since the Chicago weather is still being indecisive AF, I decided to mix my look up a bit. I paired my waist bag with a gray Moncler vest (that is sadly sold out everywhere, but the one I linked is similar!) and cute quilted, down skirt. I had never seen a skirt style like this before and was immediately in love! Perfect for the in-between weather days we’ve been experience lately.
For a pop of color (and warmth) I slipped on my favorite Gucci shearling-lined loafers in pink and topped it off with a cozy Moncler knit pom pom hat.
Here we go again with Chicago’s bipolar weather…. Last week we were wearing sunglasses and denim jackets, now it’s back to snow and winter jackets. Usually I’d be rather upset, but the chilly weather gives me an excuse to wear my new multi-color fur coat!
This fab jacket by T&J Designs is one of my favorite purchases of the year. If you haven’t noticed, I’m a little obsessed with the multi-color fur trend right now. Usually fur would dress a look up, but the army green makes it the perfect day time go to. Plus the fun colors add such a bold touch!
Now let’s talk about this Gucci shoulder bag – you’ve seen it before and you will definitely see it again. It just speaks to me. I love how playful and feminine the design is. With the 3D hearts and fuchsia leather, this bag is 100% a statement piece. Dress it up or dress it down, but whatever you do – rock it with confidence. It’s (almost) as fabulous as you are 😉
Obviously no look is complete without over the knee boots, duh. Don’t worry, you can find my guide to OTK Boots HERE!
Okay, so we covered the fellas in our lives in yesterday’s Valentine’s Day Gift Guide For Him. But now it’s time for the ladies. Whether it’s your first V-Day with your sweetheart or going on forever, finding the perfect gift can be tricky. Of course, fresh flowers and a sweet note are always a necessity. But this year take February 14th to the next step and find her something a little more special. Show her how much she means to you. It doesn’t have to be anything big – just something that shows her how much you care.
Don’t worry, my friends. I’ve put together a Valentine’s Day Gift Guide For Her that any girlfriend, wife, crush, significant other, or gal pal would die for. Hubby – Take notes ;).
It’s officially February and love is in the air my friends! Since pink is one of my favorite colors, it seems only fitting that Valentine’s Day is also one of my favorite holidays. Not because my hubby spoils me with flowers and chocolate – although I do love that part! But because it gives me a chance to celebrate all of my loved ones and show them how much they mean to me. There’s just something about February 14th that turns me into the heart eyes emoji!
But despite my adoration for the holiday, it somehow always seems to creep up on me. And shopping for guys can be really challenging. So this year I’m staying on top of things! I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite gifts in today’s Valentine’s Day Gift Guide. All hubby approved 😉 Ditch the chocolates and go for something a little more special.
Ah it’s almost Friday, my loves!! Is it just me or has this week gone by excruciatingly slow? Regardless, I am ready for the freakin’ weekend. But on a more serious note, I wanted to share something a little more personal with you today.
My name is Janet and I am a handbag addict.
LOL okay sorry, but seriously I have been getting so much feedback on my purses lately! So I wanted to mix things up a bit and give you all a sneak peek to my most coveted possession(s): my handbag collection.
I would love to share every single one of my babies, but we’d be here for days. For now, I’m just sharing a few of my all time faves.
Chloe Drew Python Crossbody
Tom Ford Python Medium Sienna Bag
Celine Classic Box Shoulder Bag in Poppy
Saint Laurent Small Monogram Shoulder Bag
Chanel Lego Clutch, Limited Edition
Chanel Blue Velvet Boy Bag
Hermes Constance Handbag
Alexander McQueen Knuckle Box Clutch
Gucci CC Marmont Medium Heart Shoulder Bag
Ever since the ball dropped on 2017, I’ve been feeling pretty festive! I’ve somehow managed to incorporate a little sparkle into nearly all of my outfits. I think it’s my subconscious trying to brighten up these dull January days. Regardless, I’m not complaining! A girl needs some glitz in her life every now and then.
I love this Isabel Marant Sequin Dress. The gold + silver sequin combo is so cute without being overly girly. This little number is also available in long sleeve! Since the silhouette is a little boxy, I belted it with an oversized YSL waist belt. It’s crazy what a difference one accessory can do for a look!
But since it is a still a bit chilly, I slipped on a black moto jacket (SHOCKING, I know 😉 ). I simply can’t control my love for a staple leather jacket, okay?! This black Zara leather zip jacket is functional and trendy. I love love love the ribbed shoulders – they add dimension to the piece.
And how cute are these Marc Fisher Over-The-Knee Boots?! I love the taupe-grey suede look because now I can wear these babies all year long.
Side note: for more OTK styles, check out last week’s post here.
Happy Monday, my loves! Don’t forget to shop this look below! xo
Nothing like a little sparkle to kick off your week! Right now, I am obsessing over this embellished bolero jacket. If you’re feeling a little more glamorous, this jacket is the perfect alternative. I threw this little velvet number on under the Roberto Cavalli fur-trim coat I wore in last Friday’s post. While I’m always an advocate of anything glam, sometimes sequins are too much for a gal. But this combination of geometric embroidery + silver beads seamlessly blends chic and glitz.
Velvet is always classy. The luxe fabric can dress up seriously any look. Which is why I love contrasting it with materials like black leather. This texture-combo brings sexy and classy together in such a sophisticated way. I wore a loose-fitting velvet camisole with lace-trim for a little extra luxe.
I love this look for date night. Paired with a leather studded over the shoulder bag and two-tone suede pumps, you can add a little edge and color. Have fun flirting with your SO in this fun look!
While I’m still day dreaming of the sandy beaches of Turks and Caicos, I’ve officially traded in my bathing suit and flip flops for a more weather appropriate ensemble. But honestly, this look is making my post-vacay blues slip right away! I went a little texture crazy with this look, but I love it.
This Roberto Cavalli fur-trimmed jacket is the perfect way to bundle up on a day like today! * And the Maje velvet camisole I’m wearing is my go-to layering piece. Whether you slip it on with an oversized cardigan for lounging or a black leather jacket on a night out, this tank is adorable. The lace trim + v-neck add a flare of subtle femininity and sexiness. Plus, velvet just makes everything a little more alluring.
As always, I’m a sucker for leather and these Saint Laurent leather pants are to die for. Just like every girl needs a black leather jacket in their wardrobe, a pair of leather leggings are next in the lineup! They know how to dress up any outfit. Throw them on with cute sneaks and a sweater and you’ve got an adorable daytime look.
However, the real MVPs of this look are the accessories. The black leather Gucci studded shoulder bag + the Gianvito Rossi suede pumps = yaaass (I have never used that word before, but here it seems necessary). Studs, sequins, and beads? You had me at Gucci ;). But these pumps were the perfect way to add a little color into this look. The two-tone gray is subtle, but pops against the black.
