The Southern Chicago

The Southern Chicago restaurant will put your mama’s home cookin’ to shame. The relaxed atmosphere is great for family and friends to gather. The reclaimed wood tables, giant booths, and pull up bar stools create the perfect rustic-chic vibe. The upstairs open area is a great place to host parties and events for any occasion.
The fried foods paired with the tall whiskey drinks will have you feeling the laid back lifestyle of the south. If whiskeys not your drink of choice, they have a wide selection of wines, old-fashion cocktails, and southern beers to make you feel right at home. The dishes are full of flavorful ingredients grown locally.
I went with the recommended southern mac-n-cheese for starters. It was made to perfection with aged cheddar mornay and fresh biscuit breadcrumbs sprinkled on top. The warmth of the dish was just what I needed for the chilly fall season. The Nashville hot wings had a nice kick to every bite, served with house pickles and buttermilk ranch for dipping. The meat was excellently prepared, crispy on the outside with a tender juicy center.
The light and refreshing root vegetable salad put a little green into my meal. The warm bacon-leek vinaigrette prepared fresh on sight was the right complement to the root veggies, carrot puree, and goat cheese ingredients.
To end the meal, my girlfriends and I split the traditional southern apple pie and vanilla bean ice cream. The aroma took over the table; it was so good I couldn’t put down my spoon!
The next time YA’LL are in the area come on in and check them out.
