The Trendy Turtleneck

When you hear turtlenecks, you immediately think of snow storms, hot chocolate, and 20-degree weather. Contrary to popular belief, the turtleneck doesn’t have to be the heavy-knit sweater you turn to when it’s cold. As important as seasonality is in the fashion world, the high-neck silhouette has brought us comfort one too many times to be shunned 3-4 months out of the year!
Obviously a long-sleeved turtleneck is out of the question unless you live in Alaska during the summer. However, winter’s alternative sleeveless turtleneck is perfect for just about any summertime occasion. There’s something about the shape that feels utterly sophisticated. But if you want something that says business in the front and a little party in the back, this turtleneck is perfect. Not only is the bare back trend fashion’s best combo of sexy + classy, but it also makes this top totally transitional from winter to summer.
This turtleneck would look adorable tucked in with a flared skater skirt or white jeans, and when the seasons change, throw on a cute black leather jacket for a colder-weather look. I paired this top with a pair of Zara Super Skinny Jeans. The distressed look + raw hemline adds a little edge to the sophisticated look of the turtleneck.
If you haven’t noticed from my previous posts, I’m a little snakeskin-crazed these days! The texture always adds a little more depth and texture to my looks. Which is why I paired this street style with the Chloé Faye Bag. I love the snakeskin + suede combo with silver hardware – chic and trendy. To play off of the suede on my purse, I slipped on a pair of navy suede Christian Louboutin signature stilettos. You can never go wrong with a pointed-toe and a red sole!
To top off this look, I kept the jewelry understated with a simple Hermes cuff and made a statement with these round oversized Chloe sunnies. I love the unique shape and design of the temple piece. They add such a retro flare to the profile.
On the next chilly summer day, try this #ootd – you’ll look chic from neck to toe!
