Trend Alert: Athleisure Do's + Dont's


On behalf of Mothers everywhere I’d like to say – thank god for yoga pants and thank god for whoever made them socially acceptable outside the gym. In recent years, athleisure has taken over the runway and carpool pickup line. Performance-wear as everyday-wear could seriously be considered the unofficial uniform for on-the-go mommy’s. Let’s be real, if you aren’t comfortable while chasing your kids, driving them to school, cleaning the house, and running errands, it’s probably not happening.
But despite being a common practice, people are still skeptical to the whole all-day-activewear thing. Some would argue that workout clothes are meant for just that – working out. I agree and disagree. I agree that a full-blown workout outfit should not be worn daily if you don’t plan on actually making it to the gym. Trust me, I am all for comfort but sometimes you have to draw the line at the sports bra.
The key is to combine athleisure pieces with trendy everyday ones. Dress up your activewear a bit. Swap out your gym shoes with cute ankle boots or trendy sneakers like Steve Madden slip ons. Put on some delicate hoop earrings and throw on a chic shoulder bag. These simple changes can take your look from the gym to a sassy street style look.
Today’s #OOTD is the perfect athleisure look for winter. Whether you’re leaving the gym or don’t quite make it there, this outfit is trendy and sporty. Over my workout leggings, I slipped on my favorite Moncler Puffer Jacket and Nu Foxy Fur Boots. Being warm doesn’t mean you have to dismiss fashion! Then to dress it up, I added my Chanel Quilted Flap Bag and Chanel oversized sunnies for an extra hint of glam.
